After connecting your website, the next step is running a comprehensive AI discoverability audit. This audit analyzes your site across the dimensions that determine whether AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude can find, understand, and cite your content.
Starting the Audit
Navigate to your connected website's dashboard and select Audits > New Audit. Point11 offers two audit types:
- Full Audit: Analyzes every page within your configured crawl scope. Recommended for your first audit. Covers structured data, content quality, technical accessibility, and AI crawler configuration.
- Focused Audit: Targets a specific area such as structured data only, content optimization only, or crawler access only. Useful for follow-up audits after addressing specific issues.
For your initial audit, select Full Audit and click "Run Audit." The platform will begin analyzing your pages immediately.
What the Audit Evaluates
The AI discoverability audit evaluates your site across five categories:
Structured Data Analysis
Point11 parses every page for JSON-LD, Microdata, and RDFa markup. The audit reports:
- Which schema types are implemented and on which pages.
- Missing high-priority types (Organization, Product, Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Article).
- Validation errors against the Schema.org specification.
- Properties that are present but incomplete (e.g., a Product without offers or aggregateRating).
- Whether structured data content matches visible page content, as required by Google's guidelines.
Content Structure Evaluation
Based on the Princeton GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) research, the audit evaluates whether your content is formatted for AI citation:
- Heading hierarchy and semantic HTML usage.
- Presence of statistics with sources (the single most effective optimization for AI visibility).
- Use of Q&A formats, bullet points, and structured lists.
- Content length and depth relative to competitive benchmarks.
- Whether authoritative quotes and inline citations are present.
AI Crawler Access
The audit checks your robots.txt configuration for each major AI crawler:
- GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot (OpenAI / ChatGPT)
- Google-Extended (Gemini)
- PerplexityBot (Perplexity)
- ClaudeBot and Claude-SearchBot (Anthropic / Claude)
- CCBot (Common Crawl)
Each crawler is flagged as allowed, blocked, or partially restricted. The audit also checks for Crawl-delay directives that might slow AI indexing.
JavaScript Rendering Analysis
OpenAI's crawlers cannot render JavaScript. The audit identifies content that is loaded via client-side JavaScript and therefore invisible to ChatGPT. This includes:
- Dynamically injected product data.
- Client-side rendered pricing and availability.
- Lazy-loaded content sections.
- Single-page application (SPA) content without server-side rendering.
Content Freshness
The audit evaluates when each page was last modified. Since 76.4% of ChatGPT citations come from content updated in the last 30 days, stale content is flagged with urgency levels:
- Critical: Not updated in over 90 days.
- Warning: Not updated in 30-90 days.
- Current: Updated within the last 30 days.
Reading Audit Results
When the audit completes, results are organized into a summary dashboard and detailed page-level reports.
The summary dashboard shows:
- Overall AI discoverability score (0-100).
- Category scores for structured data, content, crawler access, rendering, and freshness.
- Issue count by severity (critical, warning, informational).
- Comparison to industry benchmarks based on your organization's configured vertical.
Page-level reports drill into specific issues and provide actionable recommendations. Each recommendation includes the affected page, the specific issue found, the expected impact on discoverability, and step-by-step remediation instructions.
Exporting and Sharing Results
Audit results can be exported in multiple formats:
- PDF report: Executive summary with key findings and recommendations. Suitable for stakeholder presentations.
- CSV export: Full page-level data for analysis in spreadsheets or business intelligence tools.
- API access: Programmatic access to audit results for integration with CI/CD pipelines or custom dashboards.
Share audit results with team members directly from the platform by clicking Share and entering their email addresses. Recipients with Point11 accounts will see the full interactive report. External recipients receive the PDF version.
